A cop’s story always attracts one and all. From MGR, SIvaji Ganesan till Suriya and Simbhu, there is a passion to do police stories. Nandha joins the bandwagon with Vellore Mavattam. Directed by R N R Manohar of Masilamani fame, the movie has Poorna opposite him. Check out the review

Story

It is the tale of an aspiring IPS officer who fights against political system. He stems the rot in the society. With his upright ways, he teaches a lesson to political officers and the evil and greedy men in the society. Born in a poor backward family, Mutukumar (Nandha) dreams to become a police officer. He manages to work hard and study well and realise his dream. There begins hurdles in the life of Muthukumar, who from Police Training Academy takes up job at Vellore district. He romances Vidya (Poorna. There is challenge in the form of evil politicians and its up to Muthukumar to set things right. How he accomplishes it form the rest.

Performance

As a gritty and angry young police officer, Nandha is impressive. His matured performance reminds one of honest top cops of the state. He is impressive in stunt sequences. Fights with gusto and oozes fire in his eyes. Poorna , a look-alike of Asin, plays a chirpy girl. She has major role to play other than romancing the tough police officer Muthukumar. Watch out for Santhanam, who as a constable brings out humour. As usual his one-liners are witty. The likes of Jayaprakash, Azhagam Perumal, G M Kumar and Mayilsamy adds pep to the proceedings

Technicalities

A slick narration is needed for such themes. Thanks to superb cinematography, the movie lives up to all hype. Vettri has opted for lens which captures the chase and stunts well. The momentum is never lost anywhere thanks to crisp editing by Suraj Kavee. Sundar C’s music is peppy and a couple of songs are melodious. R N R Manohar’s dialogues and script add strength.

Analysis

A cop story well narrated will woo masses. Manohar, whose maiden venture was a Rom-com Masilamani, has gone an extra mile in Vellore Mavattam. The geographical locations are well-handled . The movie is crisp and sharp. Thanks to Manohar and Nandha, it is worth a watch.
Three cheers to producers Kalpathi S. Aghoram, Kalpathi S. Ganesh, Kalpathi S Suresh, who have made it on huge budget, Vellore Mavattam impresses. The lacunae is at places, it reminds one of Khakha Khakha.
